“We’re excited to increase TREMEC’s participation with Mustang Week Texas and bring the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout to a new event,” said Mike Kidd, TREMEC Aftermarket Business Unit Manager. “This shootout will include a familiar format we’ve used in the past, pulling the four quickest H-pattern shifted manual transmission cars from the True Street class. They’ll compete heads up on a .400 pro tree in a winner-take-all showdown for a brand new TREMEC TKX 5-speed transmission. Plus, we’ll have special awards for the 10 quickest stick shift cars in True Street.”

Eligible vehicles must be a full-bodied car or truck with an H-pattern shift manual transmission (doesn’t have to be a TREMEC) with a foot activated clutch. Awards will be given for the 10 quickest manual transmission vehicles from the True Street based off each racer’s average from their three True Street runs. Then the four quickest competitors will face off in a heads up format, with lane choice determined by qualifying E/T. “Mustang Week True Street is about real cars and real drivers,” says Mustang Week CEO James Lawrence. “TREMEC adding the Stick Shift Shootout to our event is a perfect fit — it celebrates the heart of Mustang culture and the guys and girls who still love shifting their own gears.”

Mike will cover different aspects of drag racing that racers can look at to improve such as burnouts, staging, reaction time, launch technique and putting together a clean pass. It’ll be a great chance for racers of all levels to make themselves better.
