The 2023 NMRA 25th Anniversary Ford Homecoming was host to some great TREMEC-sponsored drag racing action. The second TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout of 2023 rolled into Summit Motorsports Park as part of the NMRA Ford Homecoming and 25th Anniversary Celebration with high expectations for some great drag racing excitement. The weather was nearly perfect all weekend, and the True Street field had 44 manual transmission cars out of 104 total entries. The TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout field was tight, with one 9-second average elapsed time (E/T) car followed by five 10-second cars and two 11-second average Mustangs. There was the usual amount of drag racing poker being played during the True Street time trials, with driver’s running different strategies to get an average E/T that would give them the best chance at winning with the Stick Shift Shootout’s staggered-start format. Despite the remnants of Hurricane Nicole passing through the day before this event, the TREMEC-shifting drag race action at the 2022 Mod Nationals couldn’t be stopped at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The TREMEC Modular True Street class featured a tight field with multiple 8-, 9- and 10-second cars vying for top honors. The 2020-up GT500 class was a showdown of Mustangs with TREMEC TR-9070 DCTs, featuring 9 cars with qualifying times in the 9-second range. And the Driver Mod 8.50 class (all manual transmission-equipped) had 22 entries with half the field in the 9- and 10-second elapsed time (E/T) range for qualifying.
