The 2018 Nitto NMRA All Ford World Finals is an awesome spectacle of Ford Mustang drag racing. The action will get intense, as racers face off at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, September 27-30. Part of the spectacle of speed will be the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout, which pits the eight quickest manual-transmission–equipped cars from the QA1 True Street Class in a heads-up shootout!

“We’re excited to partner with TREMEC and bring the Stick Shift Shootout back to the NMRA World Finals in 2018,” said Steve Wolcott, co-founder of the NMRA racing series. “TREMEC has been a long-time supporter of the NMRA and its racers, and after the success of the new format at the Bradenton event, we expect the Bowling Green edition to be even more exciting and action packed.”

The format will be the same as the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout held earlier this year in Bradenton, Florida. The first 25 manual transmission–equipped cars in line for True Street tech inspection at the Nitto NMRA World Finals will receive $100 from TREMEC to cover their True Street entry fee. We hope that this encourages even more racers to show up to compete in the popular True Street Class.

The eight drivers selected for the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout on Sunday, September 30th will receive a custom TREMEC jacket and award plaque at the TREMEC Racer Appreciation party held at the TREMEC trailer after racing concludes on Saturday, September 29. All True Street competitors will be welcome to enjoy free pizza and beverages, as well as the company of their fellow racers.

During the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout, the eight competitors will face off in a Chicago-style elimination bracket: No. 1 vs. No. 2, No. 3 vs. No. 4, No. 5 vs. No. 6 and No. 7 vs. No. 8. Starts will be staggered like in a bracket race, using each racer’s three-run True Street E.T. average to set their dial-in. Unlike an index race, the TREMC Stick Shift Shootout will not employ a breakout. Competitors will be able to run all-out to be crowned king of the stick-shift hill.

The winner and runner-up will take home prizes provided by McLeod Racing. The winner will be awarded a McLeod Racing RXT Twin-Disc Clutch with Flywheel (valued at approximately $1,300), while the runner-up will receive a $500 McLeod Racing product certificate.

Any True Street competitor using a street-type manual transmission is eligible to compete in the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout. Modifications such as face-plating are allowed, but the transmission must be shifted by a single, hand-operated handle. No multiple-lever, Lenco-style transmissions will be allowed nor will manual transmissions shifted by air or by electronic or hydraulic actuation.
