TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout at 2021 Spring Break Shootout
The first of three 2021 TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout events took place March 4-7, 2021, at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida, at the NMRA Spring Break Shootout. It was spectacular manual-transmission drag racing action as the street-legal Ford racers battled to secure a Top 8 spot in the Shootout and then gun for the championship. Myles Stocker’s 2006 Mazda V8-Powered MX-5 Miata
Myles Stocker knows cars. He’s built them, he’s raced them, and he’s restored them. Ask what he’s owned and modified, the list gets interesting– cars that include an AC Cobra, 1965 Mustang GT350R, 1956 Ford pickup with 392 Hemi, and 1961 Falcon Ranchero with straight axle and Holman Moody 289 hi-power engine. Oh, and then there’s the 1960 Ford convertible with 352 hi-power engine and 1961 Ford convertible with 375-horsepower 393 hi-power engine which he ended up swapping in a 427 tunnel-port and 4-speed. Tim Casto Wins His First Ever TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout
Tim Casto barely made it to Bowling Green, Kentucky, for the NMRA All-Ford World Finals and to patriciate in the 2020 TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout. He worked late the night before the event to swap ignitions just to get the car running. Then, during one of his test passes, Casto hit fluid near the top end of the track and spun the Electric Red 1993 Mustang LX in a wild 360.
