Up Close Look at the #TREMECequipped Ford Mustang Dark Horse

While the first model year of the next generation Ford Mustang doesn’t feature the GT500, GT350 or Mach 1 models, Ford wasn’t going to launch the S650 without one special version to serve as the 2024 model year flagship. The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is the premium performance 2024 Mustang, with two distinct versions. The regular Dark Horse is the closest thing you can get to a street-legal race car, with 500 horsepower from its uniquely tuned and equipped 5.0L V8. And it comes with a TREMEC TR-3160 6-speed. Then there’s the Dark Horse R, the race-ready Mustang. Ford worked with IMSA to create an exclusive racing series just for these special models. The Mustang Challenge Series will feature five events in 2024, with plans for more in 2025. Read More “Up Close Look at the #TREMECequipped Ford Mustang Dark Horse”

One of the modern adult equivalents of that childhood experience is visiting a classic car dealership like Gateway Classic Cars to see the assortment of classic cars and trucks along with other specialty vehicles. But these don’t fit in an easy-to-carry case when it’s time to go home.
Walking up and down the rows we spotted some factory #TREMECequipped cars along with some muscle cars retrofitted with one of our modern manual transmissions. And we fantasized about how cool others would be if they were converted to a TREMEC transmission.
Gateway Classic’s Paul Kazmarek was nice enough to show us around and answer some questions while looking at inventory of inspiring classic cars for sale. Here are the highlights.

Five Questions with NMRA Co-Founder Steve Wolcott

2023 marks the 25th anniversary for the National Mustang Racing Association (NMRA). The year was 1999, and the Mustang performance and racing world was like the Wild West. Multiple series were popping up as popularity surged for both the new Mustang and the not-so-old Fox Body Mustang. The spectator parking would be as full of Mustangs as the racer pits, and events were as fun as rock concerts. It was this fertile ground that Co-Founder of the NMRA Steve Wolcott got together with the right backers to start what would become king of Mustang drag racing events. TREMEC was there from the beginning to support the series and TREMEC-equipped racers as they grew a whole new segment of stick shift drag racing.
