TREMEC Magnum vs T-56 Transmission 6

Here, you can see the detents that control the fore-and-aft movement of the slider over the synchronizer hub. The T-56 design (right) used a crude but effective hoop-style retainer to hold three stamped-steel keys in place. The self-contained, ball-and-spring-loaded detents in the TR-6060 and Magnum (left) are far superior at locating the slider and controlling the motion between shifts. This translates in to greater durability and noticeably improved shift feel.
