Jeff Smith Wins First TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout of 2024

The first TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout of 2024 was action packed and featured one of the tightest fields ever at the 2024 NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Gainesville Raceway. For all three TREMEC Stick Shift Shootouts in 2024, TREMEC has partnered with McLeod Racing to sweeten the pot. If the winner is running a TREMEC transmission the racer will get an additional $1,000 from TREMEC. Racers who have a McLeod clutch system will get a bonus $1,000 from McLeod Racing. This gives racers the opportunity to take home up to an extra $2,000 for winning the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout. But wait, there’s more! TREMEC-equipped Day-Dreaming at Gateway Classic Cars

If you enjoy classic cars, you may have spent time as a kid looking at a display rack filled with Hot Wheels and/or Matchbox diecasts that helped you live out automotive fantasies long before being old enough to get your driver’s license. One of the modern adult equivalents of that childhood experience is visiting a classic car dealership like Gateway Classic Cars to see the assortment of classic cars and trucks along with other specialty vehicles. But these don’t fit in an easy-to-carry case when it’s time to go home.
Walking up and down the rows we spotted some factory #TREMECequipped cars along with some muscle cars retrofitted with one of our modern manual transmissions. And we fantasized about how cool others would be if they were converted to a TREMEC transmission.
Gateway Classic’s Paul Kazmarek was nice enough to show us around and answer some questions while looking at inventory of inspiring classic cars for sale. Here are the highlights.

Ten Questions with NMRA-NMCA Co-Founder Steve Wolcott

The National Mustang Racing Association (NMRA) and National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) are two of the best-known drag racing series in the U.S. Born from the 1990s boom in Mustang performance, the NMRA was created to meet the rapidly growing need for a drag racing series exclusively dedicated to late-model Mustangs and other Ford-family makes. As the NMRA’s popularity and success surged, ProMedia took over the existing NMCA racing series in 2005 to become an NMRA sister series running similar format as the NMRA but open to muscle cars from all brands. TREMEC Distributor Spotlight – Hanlon Motorsports

It is hard to imagine a time when modern 5- and 6-speed transmissions weren’t the norm. Drivers had no idea what it was like to have smooth and precise gear shifting combined with low rear-axle gear ratios and one or two overdrives to keep highway driving realistic. But when Bob Hanlon started his namesake transmission business, modern 5-speeds were still relatively new, 6-speeds were exotic items and the legendary T-56 hadn’t yet changed the world.
